Church Planting Module

Taught by specialists in this field, the church planting module of the 2 year BA course will be the catalyst for students to go into pioneering situations in this country and overseas. Through lectures, seminars and directed learning, the course will look at:

Year 1
· Biblical context - exploring the call to cultural engagement through mission
· Biblical models for mission and Biblical models for church planting
· Cultural context - the Church and cultural change
· The transition from modernity to post-modernity
· The transition from Christendom to post-Christendom
· Theology for a post-modern/post-Christendom western world
· Strategies to connect with communities
· Core competencies

Year 2
· Building a core team
· Spiritual mapping, neighbourhood and demographic research
· Exploring the impacts of post-modernity and post-Christendom upon current trends in mission and church planting
· Emerging 'Church' an analysis of various new expressions of church and its impact upon the community
· The role of the leader in effective church planting
· Developing leadership in and around you
· The role of the five-fold ministry (Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Pastor and Teacher) in creating and planting mission churches.
