Our Values

  • We believe that there is more than one way to plant church.
  • We believe that there is more than one way to express church.
  • We believe that church should communicate the Gospel relevantly in order to connect with community.
  • We believe that churches should be planted by leaders of a pioneer spirit who are called by God, equipped for ministry and released for service.
  • We believe that churches planted should have adequate care and accountability.
  • We believe that in order to encourage church planting, there should be the freedom and the grace to fail.

Church Planting Policy

A step by step process for working with the national department

1. Contact the National Church Planting Department
Tell us about your vision, plans etc. We would love to hear from you

2. Complete application/recommendation forms (available on request)
This just helps us to keep things clear and provides an initial assessment

3. Consultation and assessment
Involves a visit from one of our team to meet with you and your leader. We want to help you think through whether you are a lead church planter or part of a church planting team.

4. Connect with coach
We all need someone to talk things through with, especially someone who has already been there. A coach will be available to you throughout these early stages of church planting.

5. Commence training
This may be gaining experience alongside a proven church planter or attending the 'academy', a programme of intensive training in starting a new church. 'Journey into Mission Church' is another valuable tool as well. There are many ways you can be equipped for this ministry and we will talk this through with you.

6. Create a new church
This is the development of a new community of faith amongst those you are trying to reach. It may not look conventional but must be missional.

7. Continue in 2 - way relationship
We are committed to helping you in your journey and want you to work with us in maintaining that mission minded focus of churches planting churches.

Church planting is a key objective of Assemblies of God and there are many ways to get involved in this great mission strategy.
